Ciddjyne(Cece) Chery

Ciddjyne Chery is a medical student interested in addressing health disparities through research and community engagement. She graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a minor in Health Disparities in Society. During her undergraduate years, Ciddjyne worked on a research team for four years, focusing on evidence-based approaches to combat health disparities. Her interest in understanding the various factors affecting community health outcomes led her to study abroad in South Africa, Argentina, and Vietnam. Living in both urban and rural areas, she gained a global perspective on how social determinants of health influence community health outcomes. After earning a Master of Science in Physiology at the University of Michigan, Ciddjyne pursued a career in clinical research. She became a certified clinical research professional and worked on various projects, including drug-based clinical trials, biomedical observational studies, and behavioral and mental health research.

Thus far in medical school, she has continued her commitment to service and advocacy by serving on the Medical Student Council for the Class of 2028 and having served as a Mobile Clinic Coordinator where she helped organize medical care for unhoused populations. She is also part of the inaugural cohort of the Urban Health Equity Pathway, a four-year longitudinal program that prepares medical students to develop the skills, knowledge, and leadership needed to advance equity in medicine.

Outside of academics, she helps lead a Hiking Affinity Group exploring the scenery of California and enjoys life with her four-year-old Chihuahua mix, Kaius!
